USPA Tandem Instructor Rating Course Information

REQUIREMENTS FOR TAKING THE COURSE:

After completion of the initial Tandem course you may participate in the USPA Tandem Instructor Rating Course.

To participate in a USPA Tandem instructor rating course you need the following:
  • USPA membership
  • Hold a USPA Coach Rating
  • Finished the manufacturer specific rating
  • The USPA Tandem Proficiency card needs to be signed off at items 1-8 if you are a coach and at item 1-2 if you already are a USPA Instructor in another discipline.

THE PROFICIENCY CARD:

The first thing you need to do after you decide to get the USPA tandem rating is get the course books. You need a current (not older then 24 months) SIM and IRM. You can find the tandem proficiency card in the back of the IRM. The card needs to be signed off at the required numbers prior to the course.

The course consists of one day of classroom, ground, and in-air evaluations and an open book written exam. The USPA tandem course will take up to 2 days. NOTE: If you are taking a manufacturer specific Tandem Instructor Rating Course with me I include the USPA Tandem course at no cost to the candidate (minus the $40 fee to USPA).

COURSE FEES:

If taking the TICC as a separate item (i.e. you already hold a Tandem rating from the manufacturer), the course fee for the USPA tandem course is $125. This includes the instruction and ground and air evaluations. You would still be responsible for the jump tickets for the Cat. D evaluation jump (2 slots). there will be an additional charge of $70 for a tandem evaluation jump (jump required by USPA) and additional jump costs (2 slots). Also there would be a fee for my travel cost. Ask for group discounts!
