Racer Tandem Instructor Rating Course Information

REQUIREMENTS FOR TAKING THE COURSE:

To participate in the Racer Tandem instructor rating course you need the following:
  • 18 years of age
  • 500 jumps
  • 3 years in the sport
  • 4 hours of freefall time
  • 50 jumps within the last 12 months
  • Documentation of a cutaway(real emergency or intentional)
  • Hold a USPA D-license or foreign equivalent
  • Hold a USPA Coach, instructional rating (AFF, SL, or IAD) or foreign equivalent
  • Hold an FAA Class III medical certificate, foreign equivalent or HALO Physical

COURSE MATERIALS:

These materials are provided at the course and contain books, videos, and the rating application forms at no cost to the candidate. These materials can also be obtained online at www.jumpshack.com

THE COURSE:

The course will take 2 -3 days (weather permitting). The course consists out of one day of classroom, 10 examination jumps (phase I and phase II) and a written exam.

You need to bring copies of:
  • drivers license (age verification)
  • logbook 500 jumps
  • logbook pages 3 years in sport
  • logbook pages 50 jumps within last 12 months
  • logbook page 4 hours of freefall
  • logbook page cutaway
  • USPA membership card with D-license number and coach or Instructor endorsement
  • FAA medical certificate, military, or foreign equivalent

COURSE FEES:

The course fee for the Racer Tandem rating course is $300. This cost covers the instruction and the examiners fee for the Phase I and Phase II jumps. My equipment may be rented for $35 per jump or you can supply your own Tandem rig for the certification process. You would still be responsible for the jump tickets (20 slots) and the manufacturers rating fee.

CROSS- TRAINING:

If you already possess a current tandem rating from another manufacturer you can get crossed-over to the Racer Tandem.

To qualify for cross-training you must:
  • Hold a current tandem instructor rating from another manufacturer
  • Have at least 100 jumps on that Tandem system
  • Meet all the requirements for the initial Racer rating (see above)
You need to bring copies of:
  • Current tandem rating
  • Proof of 100 tandem jumps
  • Drivers license (age verification)
  • Logbook pages 3 years in sport
  • Logbook page 500 jumps
  • Logbook pages 50 jumps within last 12 months
  • Logbook page 4 hours of freefall
  • Logbook page cutaway
  • USPA membership card with D-license number and instructional endorsement
  • FAA medical certificate, military, or foreign equivalent

The course consists of a classroom portion and a minimum of 2 examination jumps. Each candidate must take the open book written exam.

COURSE FEES:

The cross-training fee is $170. This cost covers instruction and examiners fee for the 2 jumps and the use of my tandem equipment (only $100 if we use your gear). You would still be responsible for the jump tickets (4-slots).
