Rating Course Information


REQUIREMENTS FOR TAKING THE COURSE

1. 18 years of age, or older
2. 500 jump minimum
3. Three years in the sport of skydiving
4. Four hours of documented freefall time
5. 50 jumps within the last 12 months
6. Documentation of a cutaway (real emergency or intentional)
7. Hold a UPSA D-license or foreign equivalent
8. Hold a USPA instructional rating, (Coach, AFF, SL, or IAD) or foreign equivalent
9. Hold a valid FAA Class III medical certificate, foreign equivalent, or HALO physical
10. Purchase of the Strong Tandem Packet


THE strong Tandem Packet

Strong requires each candidate to get the tandem packet before the course starts. This packet contains the course books, videos and the rating application forms. You cannot attend the course without the packet!

THE COURSE

The course will take 2 -3 days (weather permitting). The course consists of one day of classroom, 10 examination jumps (phase I and phase II) and a written exam.

You need to bring copies of:

1. A driver's license (age verification)
2. Logbook with 500 documented jumps
3. Logbook pages verifying three in the sport of skydiving
4. Logbook pages verifying 50 jumps in the past 12 months
5. Logbook verifying four hours of freefall
6. Logbook entry verifying cutaway
7. USPA membership card with D-license number and instructional rating endorsement
8. Valid FAA Class III medical certificate, foreign equivalent, or HALO physical
9. The Strong Tandem Packet

COURSE FEES

The course fee for the Strong tandem rating course is $350. This cost covers the instruction and the examiners fee for the Phase I and Phase II jumps. My equipment may be rented for $40 per jump or you can supply your own Tandem rig for the certification process. You would still be responsible for the jump tickets (20 slots). Strong does not charge a rating fee, but the Strong tandem packet costs around $100. (plus shipping). You can order it by calling 1-800-344-6319 or visit their website at www.strongparachutes.com.

You will also be responsible for the Course Examiner's travel, transportation on-site, and lodging (to be determined).

CROSS-TRAINING

f you already possess a current tandem rating from another manufacturer you can get crossed-over to the Strong rating.

To qualify for cross-training you must:

1. Hold a current tandem instructor rating from another manufacturer
2. Have at least 100 jumps on that Tandem system
3. Purchase the Strong Tandem Packet prior to the course
4. Meet all the requirements for the initial Strong rating (see above)

You need to bring copies of:

1. Current tandem rating
2. Proof of 100 tandem jumps
3. Driver's license (age verification)
4. Logbook pages verifying three in the sport of skydiving
5. Logbook with 500 documented jumps
6. Logbook pages verifying 50 jumps in the past 12 months
7. Logbook verifying four hours of freefall
8. Logbook entry verifying cutaway
9. USPA membership card with D-license number and instructional rating endorsement
10. Valid FAA Class III medical certificate, foreign equivalent, or HALO physical

The course consists of a classroom portion and a minimum of 3 examination jumps. Each candidate must take the open book written exam.

COURSE FEES

The cross-training fee is $210. This cost covers instruction and examiners fee for the 3 jumps and the use of my tandem equipment (only $100 if we use your gear). You would still be responsible for the jump tickets (6-slots).
